Antoine Griezmann’s recent comments have ignited speculation over his Atletico Madrid future, saying that he has no problem leaving the club in order to win trophies and take his career to the next level.

Should Griezmann depart Atletico in the summer, he would be the 8th high profile striker to leave the club within the last 10 years, after Fernando Torres (2007), Diego Forlan (2011), Sergio Aguero (2011), Radamel Falcao (2013), David Villa (2014), Diego Costa (2014) and Mario Mandzukic (2015).

“Winning titles is what I will look for this summer when deciding my future,” said Griezmann.

“I’ve reached a point where playing nice football and scoring goals isn’t enough. If I have to change my team, there won’t be a problem. It may be England, which is in fashion, Germany, China or the United States; I’m ready to go.”

His comments are unexpected considering the manner in which he’s deflected questions on his future from the media all season, who are heavily linking him with Manchester United.

Regarding Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils, Griezmann told French TV he gives himself a ‘six out of 10 chance’ at being a United player next season, but did also say he was more likely to remain at Atletico.

Rumours are circulating that United could bid as high as £85 million for the French international, who is believed to be preparing an announcement on his future ‘within two weeks’.

Griezmann could have been a Champions League winner with his current club if not for a heartbreaking penalty shootout loss to fierce rivals Real Madrid last season, a game where Griezmann squandered a chance from the penalty spot in normal time.

Griezmann has scored 83 goals in 160 appearances for Atletico Madrid, but has just a Spanish Super Cup from 2014 to show for his efforts. That is one of just two trophies he has won at club level, the other being the 2nd division trophy with Real Sociedad from 2010.
