Barcelona are considering negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over French youngster Ousmane Dembele, a player they failed to sign last summer.
The player’s representative has confirmed interest in the 20-year-old, who recently scored his first goal for France in the friendly victory over England.
“We do know there are a number of big clubs interested in him, which is a form of recognition for his good performances,” said his agent, Moussa Sissoko.
Dembele snubbed some of the world’s biggest clubs last summer, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich, in favour of first-team football at Borussia Dortmund.
“They (Borussia Dortmund) told me that if I was good, I would play no matter what happened. I am very happy to be here and I do not regret my choice at all,” said Dembele.
Since leaving Stade Rennais, Dembele has made 49 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 10 goals.
The Frenchman also racked up 21 assists, 12 of which came in the Bundesliga, which ranks him second in the competition behind RB Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg.
Ousmane Dembele is described as a versatile forward capable of playing in any of the three attacking positions behind the striker.
As tempting as the transfer will be for the 20-year-old, one must wonder if there will be any difference in the situation regarding playing time, as Barcelona possess an almost undroppable front three.
