Spanish news outlet El Mundo Deportivo are reporting on Barcelona’s interest in FC Porto and Portugal midfielder Danilo.
Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez was in attendance for Portugal’s 2-0 win over Andorra in the penultimate group stage game of World Cup Qualifying, where Danilo completed 90 minutes and got a late assist for Andre Silva.
The Blaugrana view the 26-year-old as, at most, a possible long-term heir to Sergio Busquets in the heart of midfield, or, at least, a bolstering to the their midfield ranks.
Danilo has a multitude of experience playing in different countries, spending time in Italy, Greece and Holland in the developmental years of his career, and has spent the past four years in his home country with Maritimo and FC Porto.
He has been capped 24 times by Portugal, scoring one goal, and made five appearances in the nation’s first-ever major tournament triumph at EURO 2016.
