Serie A holders Juventus will pay out the remaining €40 million to activate an option for a permanent transfer of Brazilian winger Douglas Costa, as confirmed by Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The 27-year-old has played a bit-part role in Juventus’ Serie A campaign after joining on loan in the summer, starting just five games and adding a further five appearances off the bench, scoring one goal.

“Douglas Costa joined Juventus on loan last summer,” said Rummenigge. “At the same time, he will definitely join Juventus next summer for €46 million overall.”
Juventus have struggled to maintain their usual dominance in domestic competition, sitting in 3rd position on 31 points in Serie A, four points adrift of leaders Napoli.
They were stunned in their last Serie A outing, losing 3-2 away to Sampdoria, a match where they found themselves 3-0 down before a late burst from Gonzalo Higuaín and substitute Paulo Dybala.
The Old Lady have fared slightly better in Europe, sitting in 2nd place in Group D after five matches, but need to win away to Olympiakos on the final day to ensure progression to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
