Wesley Sneijder is set to join Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice on a free transfer following his release from Galatasaray, per the club’s official Twitter page.

Nice confirmed that the Dutchman has arrived in France for his medical and is expected to sign by Monday.

Wesley Sneijder was widely considered one of the best midfielders in the world during his time at Inter Milan, winning several titles and finishing 4th in the Ballon d’Or rankings in 2010. He was instrumental to Holland’s performances at the World Cup that year, being named Man of the Match on four occassions and narrowly losing out to Spain in the final.

The move sees the 33-year-old link up with former teammate Mario Balotelli, who won the treble together at Inter Milan in 2010.

Sneijder is the most capped player in Dutch national team history – making 131 appearances and scoring 31 times – and has represented his country at three European Championships and three World Cups.

Nice’s Champions League future depends on the outcome of a two-legged Playoff Round tie against dangerous Serie A outfit Napoli, which takes place on August 16 and August 22.

Nice kicked off their Ligue 1 campaign with a 1-0 loss away to Saint-Etienne, and were without Mario Balotelli, Wylan Cyprien and Jean Michael Seri.
