Despite some initial skepticism by Gareth Southgate after Roy Hodgson quit the post manager of the England national squad, it seems that the ex-Middlesbrough coach has changed up his mind and wants to become The Three Lions’ permanent boss.

Southgate has been assigned the position of interim coach for the next four games at least, after the scandal with Sam Allardyce and the latter’s resigning. He will have the games from the World Cup qualifiers against Malta, Slovenia and Scotland to prove himself worthy of the post, as well as a friendly match versus Spain.

Southgate hasn’t exactly shown that he has some kind of amazing skills, but is a manager that has improved the consistency of the U21 England squad, where he has spent the last three year. If the English paper “The Times” has reported correctly and the FA like him, we may see Southgate leading the Three Lions to the 2020 World Cup.
