Leicester City are searching for a new manager after parting company with Craig Shakespeare, as reported by their official website.

A statement from Leicester City Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha was given to explain their decision, saying that the club had not performed consistently enough after Craig Shakespeare’s promising start in February.

Craig Shakespeare has only been Leicester City boss since February, succeeding Premier League-winning manager Claudio Ranieri, and signed a three-year contract with The Foxes in June. He picked up where Ranieri left off, at least where European fixtures were concerned, as he guided Leicester to the Quarter-Finals of the UEFA Champions League.

“Our early promise under Craig’s management has not been consistently evident in the months since and the Board feels that, regrettably, a change is necessary to keep the club moving forward,” read part of the statement.

The Foxes are winless from their last six Premier League games, having most recently recorded three points at home to Brighton & Hove Albion in August, and sit in the relegation places after eight games.

Michael Appleton will take charge of the side in the meantime as caretaker manager.
