Liverpool are unmoved by RB Leipzig’s extravagant demands for key midfielder Naby Keita.
The Reds are reportedly prepared to meet Leipzig’s £70 million valuation of the Guinean midfielder, and would make him one of the highest earners at the club with a £130,000 per week contract.
Liverpool’s proposed terms are a huge jump from Naby Keita’s current contract, which sees him take home roughly £35,000 per week.
Rumours continue to build that Keita is keen on a move to Liverpool and such a signing would be a statement of the club’s intent heading into their first Champions League season since the 2014/15 campaign.
However, RB Leipzig are also on course for a Champions League run following an impressive season in the Bundesliga, and remain defiant in their unwillingness to sell Keita ahead of an important season.
Liverpool are aware they would likely need to go above and beyond Leipzig’s already-hefty valuation of the player if they hope to see him at Anfield next season.
Should a move be agreed upon with those contractual terms, then Keita would be the second-highest earner at the club behind Philippe Coutinho, who earns approximately £150,000 per week after signing a contract extension in January.
