Barcelona striker Luis Suarez will go under the knife to remove a meniscal cyst in his right knee in November, according to Spanish newspaper Diario Sport.
The Uruguayan international has played through the pain since injuring his knee in the Spanish Super Cup clash with Real Madrid in August.
His dip in form seems to have coincided with the injury, as he’s found the net just twice from 982 minutes for club and country this campaign.
He is not expected to miss more than three games due to the timing of the surgery, which will take place around the next scheduled international break, where Uruguay won’t have to worry about any World Cup play-off scenario’s due to holding a superior goal difference to the teams beneath them.
Luis Suarez played 90 minutes in Uruguay’s 0-0 draw away to Venezuela on Thursday and will likely spearhead the side in their final World Cup Qualifier at home to Bolivia.
