Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his interest in one day managing the England national team.

In an extract taken from his new book, Brave New World (not to be confused with Aldous Huxley’s dystopian science-fiction classic of the same title), the Spurs boss picked England as the one international side he would consider.

“If I were to be an international manager one day, I’d relish the opportunity to coach the England national team,” said Pochettino.

“I’ve heard that I’ve been considered for the job before but I don’t know if there was any truth in it.”

“If you haven’t played against (Real) Madrid in the Bernabeu it’s like you haven’t been baptised,” reads an extract of Mauricio Pochettino’s new book. He will lead his Tottenham side at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Before Spurs fans start to kick up a fuss, it’s important to note that the Argentine has been quoted as saying he would love to stay with his current club for ’10 to 15 years’, so there’s nothing to worry about in regards to his immediate future.

The former Espanyol boss has been in charge of Tottenham since May 2014, guiding them to their best-ever Premier League finish (2nd) with a club-record points tally (86).
