Paris Saint-Germain have released an official statement on the purchase of Brazilian superstar Neymar from Barcelona.
“Paris Saint-Germain is very pleased to announce the arrival of Neymar Jr. The Brazilian international striker signed a five-year contract on Thursday in the presence of his and the club’s representatives,” read part of the statement.
Neymar’s transfer is now the biggest in football history, more than double the record set by Paul Pogba’s Manchester United move last summer, and the Brazilian is also the highest-paid footballer on the planet.
Speaking soon after his signing, Neymar revealed it was the ambition of the French side which lured him away from Camp Nou.
“Paris Saint-Germain’s ambition attracted me to the club, along with the passion and the energy this brings,” he said.
PSG have announced a news conference for 12:30 BST on Friday, while Neymar will be unveiled in front of his new fans on Saturday ahead of the club’s season opener against Amiens at Parc de Princes.
