Catalan radio station RAC1 are reporting that Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has agreed personal terms for a move to Barcelona.
Barca are desperate to secure the signature of the Brazilian in an attempt to convince his compatriot Neymar, who is tempted by the prospect of a transfer to PSG, to stay at the club.
“Closed agreement with (Philippe) Coutinho,” claims RAC1 reporter Gerard Romero.
“Barcelona has everything tied up with the footballer. The club now negotiates the transfer with Liverpool.”
Barcelona must now improve upon their €80 million (£72 million) bid from last week, which was rejected by Liverpool.
The Reds are in no hurry to sell their star player, especially ahead of a return to the Champions League, and could hold out for a fee in excess of €100 million.
Should Liverpool prove unsuccessful in their attempts to hold onto Coutinho, they are at least partly compensated by the fact that there is still time to manoeuvre in the transfer market, as the window doesn’t close until August 31st.
