Radja Nainggolan is set to continue in Italy, the country where he has played his entire professional career. He came through Piacenza’s youth academy in 2007, breaking into the first team in Serie B before moving on to Serie A club Cagliari in 2010. His performances across four seasons with them earned him a move to Roma and helped elevate him into contention for the Belgian national team, where he is now an important member of the squad

“Roma are delighted to confirm that midfielder Radja Nainggolan has signed a new four-year contract with the club,” read a statement on the club’s website.

Radja Nainggolan has been at Roma since 2014, initially joining on loan from Cagliari before making the move permanent in 2015, signing for €9 million.

The Belgian international has grown into one of Roma’s most influential and important players, scoring 28 times from 160 appearances, and was named in the Serie A Team of the Year in 2015 and 2016.

News of Nainggolan’s extension is also expected to be met with an announcement on the future of Greek defender Kostas Manolas, who has returned to pre-season with Roma after a failed move to Zenit St. Petersburg.
