Real Madrid have announced the signing of Real Betis midfielder Dani Ceballos for €17 million.
“Real Madrid and Real Betis Balompie have agreed the transfer of the player Dani Ceballos, who will be connected to the club for the next six seasons,” read a statement on Real Madrid’s official website.
The European Champions fought off interest from Clasico rivals Barcelona to clinch a deal for the Spanish under-21 international, who was recently named Player of the Tournament at the under-21 European Championships in Poland.
Real Madrid have now completed two signings ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, the other being a deal for Atletico Madrid full-back Theo Hernandez for €24 million.
Zinedine Zidane has made way for Ceballos’ arrival by loaning out unsettled attacking midfielder James Rodriguez, who will spend the next two seasons with German champions Bayern Munich.
Dani Ceballos will be unveiled to the Real Madrid faithful on July 20 at the Santiago Bernabeu, and will then link up with his new teammates the following day for a pre-season tour in the United States.
