Portuguese prospect Renato Sanches is the latest player on AC Milan’s radar, with the Italians hoping to secure a loan deal for the Bayern Munich midfielder.
German media giant SportBild reported confirmation of the rumour from Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge himself, who was quoted as saying, “I can confirm AC Milan are interested in Renato Sanches.”
Although no agreement has been reached, AC Milan are planning a two-year loan deal with the option to buy for a fee in the range of €47 million.
Bayern Munich signed the teenager for €35 million last summer after impressive showings at both club and international level.
Sanches spent only one season in the top tier of Portuguese football with Benfica before departing for Germany, and debuted for his national side in March 2016, just months prior to proving his quality at the European Championships by winning the Young Player of the Tournament award.
However, Carlo Ancelotti gave the 19-year-old limited chances to prove himself at Bayern, starting him only six times in the Bundesliga and twice in the Champions League.
The question that could make or break the deal is if Renato Sanches would receive that much more playing time at Milan, especially after a summer spending spree that have seen them make no less than nine additions to the first team.
