Chelsea are on the verge of their first major signing of the transfer window with the acquisition of Roma defender Antonio Rudiger.
The 24-year-old will join the defending Premier League champions for €33 million (£29 million) + bonuses after two seasons in Serie A.
Antonio Rudiger grew into a key player for Roma, making 72 appearances and scoring seven times in his time at the club, and showed great versatility by playing in both centre-half and full-back positions.
His time in Italy also saw him debut in the UEFA Champions League, a competition which he and his new club will return to in the upcoming season.
Germany’s Confederations Cup Final with Chile, which Antonio Rudiger will likely play a part in, means that the deal cannot be completed until the tournament is over.
He is expected to travel to London to complete his medical on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
