Spanish winger Nolito has ended his disappointing spell in England with a transfer back to Spain, this time with Eduardo Berizzo’s Sevilla, as confirmed by the BBC.

The former Celta player signed a three-year contract with Los Rojiblancos after passing his medical on Sunday.

Nolito made just five appearances in the Premier League in 2017, all from the bench. He claimed that Pep Guardiola ‘had no faith in him’ and expressed his desire to return to Spain last month, saying, “All I want to do is play and if I have the chance, I want to leave and return to Spain.”

Nolito made a promising start to his Manchester City career after joining for €18 million last summer, scoring six times in 30 appearances in all competitions.

However, half of those strikes came in his first three outings for City, and the 30-year-old started just one game in 2017 – a 5th round FA Cup meeting with Huddersfield Town in February.

Nolito will look to bounce back in his homeland by coming in as the replacement for Vitolo (who joins Atletico Madrid) on the left flank, while once again working under the watch of Eduardo Berizzo, his coach at Celta de Vigo from 2014 until 2016.

Nolito is Sevilla’s fifth signing of the summer window after the arrivals of Ever Banega, Sebastien Corchia, Guido Pizzaro and Luis Muriel.
