Tottenham will ensure they get every penny possible out of domestic rivals Manchester City for the sale of England full-back Kyle Walker, placing a £50 million price tag over his head.

Pep Guardiola has already added Bernardo Silva and Ederson to the ranks, and has prioritised the Spurs full-back as his next major signing.

Kyle Walker joined Spurs in 2009 from Sheffield United, and has gone on to make 228 appearances for the club, scoring four times. In his time with the club, he has been loaned out three times; first, a spell back in the Championship with Sheffield United in 2009 and Queens Park Rangers in 2010, before a spell with Premier League outfit Aston Villa in 2011.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has a reputation for getting the best price for his players, as seen with the then-world record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £85 million in 2013.

Add that with the fact that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino claimed all season that he would only let go of players that he wanted to sell, which means that Spurs will be stubborn in their approach when negotiating with a Premier League rival.

However, Kyle Walker grew frustrated with his inconsistent playing time towards the end of the campaign, souring the relationship between himself and the manager, meaning Spurs have no alternative to letting go of the 27-year-old.

Manchester City also remain in the market for the now free agent Dani Alves, who had his contract terminated by Juventus.

The veteran Brazilian defender would not present a back-up plan should City fail to sign Kyle Walker, but is rather an additional transfer target for the club.
